All qualified applicants that submit a complete application packet online will be invited to an interview. All required documents must be uploaded before the deadline. Application: https://oetraining.unionimpact.com/
-
Please make sure your address and phone number are always up-to-date... if you do not receive the notices from the Training Program and respond in time, you will have to re-apply for the next year.
-
A notice of scheduling your interview will be sent in mid-December and the interviews will take place in mid-January. Everyone must take an Assessment Exam that consists of multiple-choice, 9th and 10th Grade Math and Reading questions. This as an assessment and will not count towards your score to be accepted into the Apprenticeship.
-
Following the interviews, the top candidates will be invited to participate in a Safety and Orientation Week at our training site in Ellensburg, located in Central Washington. This week is an opportunity for the applicants to get to know the basics of the trade and to be evaluated by the training staff. Room and board are provided.
-
The top applicants will be invited to attend the required Entry-Level training in Ellensburg prior to being indentured as apprentices and dispatched on their first job. Again, room and board are provided. In addition, applicants may be eligible to receive unemployment compensation while at the Training Site. The Training Program does not pay you to attend training.
-
Upon successful completion of Entry-Level training, applicants will be placed on the “out of work” list. Since the work outlook is uncertain, the initial job dispatch will depend upon the amount of work available in the construction industry at that time. Applicants selected for dispatches will be required to join the Operating Engineers Union. If you are not dispatched to work, you will have to re-apply for the Apprenticeship to be considered for next year's apprentice class.
